Who we are
ELKE Hair Design, borrowing its name from its owner, has paved the way of haute hairdressing in the city of Chania, as well as in the hairdressing industry in general, for the last 40 years. The salon first opened its doors to the public of Chania in March 1985 on Sfakion Street, and quickly relocated in 1986 to Pantheon until 1998. Since 1998 and its last move, ELKE Hair Design has continuously served at the ground floor store on Apokoronou Street at number 67. Thanks to Elke's German origin, foreign loyal clients and tourists find the perfect space to communicate fluently in English and German, while locals have embraced the business all these years, recognizing its consistency, stability, professionalism, and the family atmosphere that prevails, making ELKE Hair Design a reference point in the city of Chania.
THE EARLY DAYS
With years of training in Austria and Germany, obtaining the internationally recognized Meisterbrief diploma and the 1st prize in apprentice competitions in pan-German contests, Elke worked in the industry of Germany for 10 years. However, love and her subsequent acquaintance with her future husband, Eftichis Kouratorakis, drove the professionally restless Elke to her husband's homeland for new beginnings. After their marriage in 1984, Elke meets her colleague Amalia, whose acquaintance, along with her husband's, is crucial in leading her to the decision to create her first professional space.
Elke Kouratoraki
In the years that followed, Elke never stopped updating her professional skills, by attending educational seminars hosted by the biggest international names in the field such as Vidal Sassoon, Tony & Guy, and Mod's Hair Paris. Additionally, she participated in international Haute Coiffure competitions in Athens and Paris, where the era's trendsets were also presented.
Eftichis Kouratorakis
Eftychis Kuratorakis also actively participates in the business as he holds a Diploma A' as a colorist, and he has received certification from L'Oreal in the fields of physiognomy and chromatology. He is our very own color wizard!
The Future – Emmanuela Kouratoraki
Elke and Eftychis have two daughters, both professionals in the hairdressing industry. XXX has her own hair salon in Germany, while Emmanuela, a Diploma A' hairdresser, works with her parents at the salon, bringing new ideas and a fresh perspective to the experienced staff. Elke Hair Design has made its mark in the hairdressing sector of Chania and continues to serve its loyal clientele seamlessly.
